Life Limited Part
A part with a mandatory life limit set at certification, expressed in cycles or hours. When the limit is reached the part is removed from service permanently — it cannot be overhauled back into life.
Why it matters
The limit is absolute: overhaul, a shop visit or moving the part to another aircraft does not reset it. Software that treats a life limit like a maintenance interval will eventually run one past its limit.
