Dismantling an aircraft or engine to recover serviceable components and life-limited parts for reuse or sale, usually at the end of economic life.
Why it matters
Value recovered at tear-down is almost entirely a function of traceability: a part with a broken trace is worth a fraction of an identical part with a complete one.
