Aviation glossary · Parts, stock and tradingExchange

Buying a serviceable part at a reduced price by returning an unserviceable one of the same type, which the supplier then overhauls and returns to their own stock.

Why it matters

An exchange is not complete when the part is fitted — it is complete when the core is returned. The obligation outlives the transaction and is easy to lose.

In AerSynx

Core obligations are tracked as their own commitments, with aging, penalties and credit notes handled daily rather than discovered at reconciliation. Core Obligations →
