Request for Quotation
A request sent to suppliers for price, availability, condition and lead time on a part, and the first step of the procurement chain.
Why it matters
Quotes arrive by email in free form and are compared in a spreadsheet, so the reason a supplier was chosen is rarely recoverable afterwards.
